At Cut Above Landscapes Ltd, we recently transformed a garden in Ruddington for our client, Vicky. She was keen to upgrade her outdoor space into a more practical area for socialising and relaxing, so we focused on installing a new patio that blends style with minimal maintenance. The result is a striking combination of Smoke Grey porcelain slabs and dark gravel borders that create a welcoming environment all year round.

Laying The Porcelain Garden Slabs

Our first step involved clearing and levelling the existing garden surface. We then introduced Smoke Grey porcelain slabs from Paving Stones Direct UK Ltd, sized at 900x600mm. These slabs fit neatly into the space, making sure the final surface was both stable and visually consistent. We carefully assessed each slab’s placement, meaning that any slight imperfections in the ground would not lead to uneven spots later on.

Once the patio area was laid, the garden took on a refreshed look. Porcelain slabs are known for being hard-wearing, meaning they are less likely to stain or crack under changing weather conditions. This choice makes the patio simpler to keep clean and easy to maintain. The light grey tone provides a modern feel, whilst fitting naturally with a variety of garden designs and home exteriors.

Low-Maintenance Gravel Borders

To finish off the project, we surrounded the newly laid patio with dark gravel borders. This feature creates a subtle frame around the patio whilst cutting down on continuous maintenance. Gravel borders help reduce weed growth, ensuring the area looks tidy and requires less upkeep. They are also perfect for placing plant pots or large planters, giving homeowners more flexibility in how they display flowers and greenery.

We paid close attention to drainage as well. By allowing water to pass freely through the gravel, we minimise the risk of water pooling around the patio. This approach keeps the area safer for everyone, particularly in wet conditions. Our team took pride in the final outcome which combines function and style to produce a welcoming outdoor space.

Garden Transformation In Ruddington

With the new patio in place, Vicky’s garden now offers a pleasant spot for hosting family gatherings and relaxing at the end of the day. The Smoke Grey slabs form a robust surface that’s straightforward to clean, whilst the dark gravel borders add definition and flexibility for planting or rearranging décor.

From the initial site assessment to the last sweep of gravel, our landscape gardeners worked with care and precision. We are delighted with the finished result and hope that Vicky’s new garden area will serve as a relaxing retreat throughout the seasons.
